VISION

Revolutionary 3D Camera Tracking Enhances AR for Super Bowl LVII

Silver Spoon's work on the Fox Sports LVII Super Bowl broadcast was a resounding industry achievement for AR and mixed reality graphics. Our team was responsible for handling all the AR graphics in Unreal Engine centered on a groundbreaking 3D camera tracking approach for the SkyCam, jointly conceived by Fox Sports, Sony and RaceLogic using their AirPixel system.

This innovative approach involved using radio frequencies to track the camera's position with pinpoint accuracy, unaffected by weather and lighting conditions, providing unprecedented stability and precision for the 3D AR graphics. Tracking the SkyCam was particularly advantageous, as it provided extensive coverage of the entire field and stadium, as well as a range of depth and camera movements that enhanced the overall visual experience.

The result of these efforts was a visually stunning and immersive broadcast that captivated viewers worldwide. Thanks to their novel approach to camera tracking and our ability to harness the power of Pixotope and Unreal Engine, we were able to create an unparalleled viewing experience that set a new standard for live sports broadcasting.
