CBS and Nickelodeon have partnered on “Nickified” NFL simulcasts for two years, aiming to bring football to younger viewers. In 2022, we enhanced the Christmas Day “Nickmas” broadcast at SoFi Stadium in LA.
Silver Spoon developed a “Holiday Invasion” of mixed-reality effects and holiday-themed characters, pushing creative and technical boundaries for live AR. Santa, mischievous snowballs, a giant Yeti, and Nickelodeon slime all animated the broadcast.
Built entirely in Unreal Engine 5.0, the “Nickified” simulcast of CBS’s Christmas Day game between the LA Rams and the Denver Broncos advanced storytelling and technology. Patrick Star’s play-by-play, driven by real-time facial capture, went viral for roasting Russell Wilson’s “intraception.”
With over 35 minutes of live AR, viewership soared, marking double-digit gains over the previous year and the highest-rated Christmas Day telecast since 2011.
Following that success, we also produced a Nickelodeon Wild Card matchup between the Chargers and the Texans, set in Bikini Bottom, with memorable highlights like the Dirty Bubble stealing the coach and the clam cannon factory floor.
